The US Does Not Torture

The United States of America Does not torture people. It just has other people do it for them and they stand int he corner watching over their shoulders. The reality is that movies portraying corruption, torture, deception, and even murder sometimes come from somewhere. Those ideas are put on the big screen for people to ask questions. yes, it is a form of entertainment, but art is not imitating life. America does not torture? Yeah, right.

The "N" Word

This video has been in circulation for awhile but I still don't think that everyone has seen it. It is very effective and definitely brings the message how. Watch it, watch it again and tell someone else to watch it. Black, white, brown , pink or purple, please get the message. No one has ever called me that to my face but throughout all of my life experiences I am sure they have thought it or even said it behind my back. I despise hearing it. I don't allow my kids to say it. Have you ever thought what this world would be like without it or what this world could have been like had it NEVER been said?

Jealousy Has No Color

I was not going to speak on this subject, but as I see people tearing down Obama, no matter what color, I must express my discern for such behavior. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. The worst thing about all of this is most of the time the jealous person does not even realize they are jealous. Mr. Jackson, please try to do better.

It's Not Where You're From, It's Where You're At

You can't help where you come from...Saginaw, Michigan

Or where your husband comes from...Flint, Michigan

But wherever you are at...that's home. Atlanta, GA

It Really Does Exist

I wish most people could see what I see. In this world you must open your eyes and it will all be on display for your to see. Some people do not feel they are racist because they do not use certain words. Well it definitely goes deeper than that. Some people will never get it. Walk a day in my shoes and you would definitely get it. It is not enough to say that you have nothing against Black people or ANY people for that matter when the inevitability of a BLACK president is at hand and you say you are voting for the other guy because he has more experience? are you serious? That is just a way to say I that you are voting for the other guy because he is White. Let me remind you —- Bush had plenty of experience and what did he do? Frankly, the better candidate happens to be a Black guy. Get over it.

WNBA Brawl

At what age do you stop thinking about fighting? Are you going to be 50 years old talking about fighting someone? This is just ridiculous and unprofessional. And to see Rick Mahorn pushing a female - as a man first (trifling) and then as a professional he should be FIRED! What is the purpose of the word GAME when it comes to this? Maybe some people should not be playing the game. In this instance, I am not hatin' the game but I'm hatin' the players actions.

My First Car

You would think that any teenager within driving age would be happy to have a car - any car. That is not the case with this generation. Let's examine the reasoning or a car. First of all a car is a privilege, not a right. You must learn to drive on the road with the big dogs and get yourself from place to place directional wise. Secondly, most people around working age like to get a job and start experiencing the rat race and having their own monies. It helps to have a car to get you from place to place. It is less stress for your parents and it also helps if you have siblings to shuffle around. Thirdly, if there are school activities, i.e. football, soccer, student council, etc. it eases making arrangements with parents or others.  Now with all of this in mind you would think that any right minded teenager would say"hey, as long as it drives, I'm good".  No, definitely not. My first car was a Pontiac Sunfire - 1979? It was green with rust spots and a cracked windshield but the interior was leather and in great shape. It took me $5 to fill it up and I could go at least two weeks on that tank. It got me to cheerleading practice, basketball games, my best friend's house, concerts, dances, etc. Every time I needed it to crank, it did. Yeah people made comments about how it looked. SO what. Those same people commenting were the same people walking, taking the bus, getting dropped off by their parents or eventually asking me for a ride. SO who was in better shape? Teenagers can be cruel and some just don't have clue yet. My baby turned 15 last Monday and by Saturday his dad made sure he had a car just like my other 2 teenagers. I felt that was special. He got a Chevy Corsica. I would have died for a Corsica when I was growing up. Upon first mentioning of getting him a car, he had all kinds of ideas for one including a Dodge Magnum. He was delirious at the time. We just missed getting him a Mustang but maybe that was not the car for him. Is he happy he has a car? Yeah, now. All of his friends definitely do not have one and probably won't for a couple of years. Is he working to fix it up? Definitely, he is a teenager with style. With several nieces and nephews coming of age, I have an understanding of not being appreciative. When reality hits, there is nothing left but gratitude.

What Can You Do When You Are Sick?

I must send out my sincere apologies to all of those who have been visiting the blog site. I have been a little under the weather and if anyone knows anything about writing there is no worse feeling than to have ideas and cannot write them down. So what can you do when you  are sick? I have been brainstorming on how to make the site more interesting. I have been able to surf the web in between sneezes. And while drinking tea and overdosing on sinus medication  I have enjoyed hours and hours of You Tube. I must say that watching You Tube can be very addicting but it has given me an overwhelming amount of ideas. I am not 100% yet but building up to it. In the meantime, I will be venturing into some subjects other than the Question of the Week.  What else can you do when you are sick? Well you can find everything wrong around your house that needs to be done. I think I started a mental list and it got to be soooo long that I never committed it to paper.  After living in the same house for 15 years - brought brand new, and maintained wonderfully - you can still find little things here and there that needs to be done. Fortunately I have a husband who cares and listens -somewhat - to my concerns about the "oh so little" projects. If I can get my teenagers to pick up a broom and sweep the ceramic tile everyday, I feel I have accomplished much. What else can you do when you are sick? Well, I became acquainted with all of the channels that I never knew we had. I watched a Law & Order marathon (Criminal Intent). I love Law&Order, always have since the day it premiered, but there is something about that guy from Criminal Intent that I just truly enjoy. I also got more familiar with The Closer. I think that is a really cute show. I'll try to catch it more often - maybe. Besides for getting rest, destroying a box of tissues, eating when you feel you can keep it down, and tossing and turning with night sweats, that's about all I did while being sick.
